NASA Technology
The beginning of the Memory Foam phenomenon began with NASA in the 1950's. Originally developed as a way to help astronauts deal with the pressure of G-Forces, the technology was never put to use in space. However, the research and development luckily did not go to waste.
The idea was to use the basic premise of the NASA Memory foam, which essentially is foam with miniscule air pockets, commonly referred to as cells. When heat and weight are applied to it, the foam molds itself to the shape of whatever it comes into contact with. This means that a sleeper gets unparalleled support and every unique pressure point gets addressed. The 'memory' moniker came about because once a body or object was removed, the foam would return to its original shape.
